about Patrick Gavigan
Patrick Gavigan's journey as a musician started with a lie. He lied to a church choir director about his ability to play the drums. "I just wanted to try. I didn't know how to play the drums, but I knew I could figure it out. I could hear the rhythms in my head, but my hands and feet didn't know how to put them together yet". As expected, the first rehearsal did not go well. Patrick decided it would be best to stick to singing in the choir and leave the drums for another time.
He developed his signature voice through inspirational soul singers like Sam Cooke and Stevie Wonder and modern-day poets like Bruce Springsteen and Nathaniel Ratliff. Patrick is a vibrant and upbeat performer, engaging and uplifting audiences at venues and festivals around Vancouver and the lower mainland, like The Commodore Ballroom, The Massey Theatre, Harmony Arts Festival, and Surrey Fusion Fest. More than just a solo act, he performs regularly with event bands such as SideOne, and The Phonix.
As a session vocalist and multi-instrumentalist—guitar, drums, bass, piano—Patrick has worked with legendary producers Gggarth Richardson, Juno award winner Danny Craig of the band Default and CCMA Producer of the year nominee Dan Swinimer.
As an artist playing original music, Patrick has performed in notable projects over the length of his career, such as theTurn 2005 CFOX Seeds Finalist and 2008 New Music West - Best Of The Fest Winners.
His current band Best Night Ever, has had viral success, with a release of a cover video of Michael Jackson's PYT gaining over 2.5 million views online. All while being 2014 Hard Rock Cafe Rock The Mic, 2016 Roxy Launch Project, and 2017 Canadian Music Week Jim Beam Talent Search Vancouver winners.
With new music and videos slated for release in 2023 from Best Night Ever and a solo EP in the works, Patrick has a busy and fun time ahead of him.
